Why I went from Chiropractic to ConTact C.A.R.E

I am so grateful for the foundation I received with Chiropractic at the New Zealand college of Chiropractic. Learning the chiropractic philosophy was a turning point in my life that gave me a whole new view of what health was, awakening me to the innate power of the body to heal itself. It has been a solid platform on my journey as a practitioner. On the 2nd of April 2016, I walked into a ConTact C.A.R.E - Flinchlock Release foundation course as a passionate chiropractor and I walked out as a ConTact C.A.R.E student practitioner, I no longer used chiropractic adjustments. The simple, safe and common sense approach struck a chord deep within me. From this moment I knew I was exactly in the right place, it felt like home. My life was about to change and ConTact C.A.R.E was now my main approach. This didn't come easily for me though, Chiropractic had been my passion and drive for almost 10 years. I had spent 6 years at university, while racking up a $100,000 student loan, not to mention thousands of dollars spent furthering my education in chiropractic. After graduating in 2013, I worked in Australia for 2 years before returning to New Zealand to start 2 new chiropractic practices, both of which were successful start-ups that were running smoothly after months of blood, sweat and tears. I was really stoked with the growth of these practices and had reached a high of 119 client visits in a week and a solid client base in less than 2 years. Finally, the money was good after putting in so much work. I was happy with where I was at and passionate about where I was going. Little did I know that right around the corner, everything would be flipped upside down. Like most people, I had never heard of Flinchlock Release, but events were unmistakably guiding me to it, I attended a weekend course which turned out to be life changing for me. I then returned back home to my chiropractic centre on the Monday and I announced to my manager and receptionist that I was no longer practicing chiropractic, which was followed by a confused and bewildered expression that said, "You have lost it, you have gone nuts!" I was no longer practicing chiropractic at my own chiropractic centre... Yes, I admit I did feel pretty crazy. From a business perspective it was absurd! But it felt right, so I trusted that feeling. I still had questions that I needed to answer:

  1. What would get the best results?

  2. What would be best for clients long term?

  3. Are we working on symptoms or the cause?

  4. Would I still use Chiropractic alongside ConTact C.A.R.E?

  5. Which was better - Chiropractic or ConTact C.A.R.E? (A subjective question and every case is different but never the less I had to answer this question so I knew which to use).

The Experiment: I conducted this experiment in my office for about 3 weeks until it became self evident which was more effective.

  1. Check the clients spine at the beginning of the appointment and write down on the client sheet every spinal dysfunction/vertebral subluxation that I could find. These were the spinal segments that I would normally adjust with chiropractic adjustments. I then put the clients sheet aside and that became the starting point or reference point.

  2. I used only ConTact C.A.R.E - Flinchlock Release. I released the most obvious Flinchlocks, no matter where in the body, I was open minded and knew it could be in any bone in the body, sometimes even in the little toe!

  3. After releasing the Flinchlocks, I rechecked the clients spine and compared it to when they had first come in.

The findings were profound. Even though I hadn't worked on the spine (no chiropractic adjustment, no manipulations of any sort), EVERY single person I re-checked had changes of the spine, the spinal joints were looser, the muscles had relaxed, their posture had changed and most clients had a massive change in their complaints immediately. This was incredible... I had worked somewhere completely different to the clients problems, pains and subluxations. Amazingly, not only did the spine change but the entire body had magically adjusted itself to a new and more comfortable state. The spine and the body had adjusted themselves! The spine is absolutely capable of adjusting itself. By releasing the unique impact pressures from bone (The Flinchlocks) of each individual, it resulted in a cascade of unravelling of compensations and re-balancing throughout the body. The alignment of the spine will compensate for the underlying traumas that remain trapped in the body. Unless that is released, the spine and the body will continue to align itself this way. Each imbalance is actually a perfect balance for the real cause. That was it! I realised that ConTact C.A.R.E was working on a deeper level. If the spine was adjusting itself after releasing Flinchlocks, in a location completely different to the clients complaints and spinal dysfunctions, this mean't that the spine dysfunction/subluxation was actually an effect, a symptom, NOT a cause. It wouldn't make any sense to keep adjusting the spine over and over hundreds of times when you're not getting to the bottom of the problem, that's just relieving the symptoms. So you're probably wondering what a Flinchlock is? This deserves a whole blog, or several! I will write about this in future. For now, more information and a link to buy the book "The Nature of ConTact C.A.R.E" can be found at: Accept what IS. Now, see the good To this day I still have not practiced Chiropractic since that April 2016 weekend course. I have now been to over 20 ConTact C.A.R.E courses and have officially reached ConTact C.A.R.E Practitioner status in 2018. Every day I am in awe of how profound and effective ConTact C.A.R.E is. I believe that the discovery of the Flinchlock phenomenon and its method of release to be one of the most important discoveries in the history of health EVER. A vital missing link that has always been there, so obvious yet it has been overlooked, until now. I am so grateful to Dale Speedy and co-founder Kym Summers for their Observations of Nature and Acceptance of what IS that led to the discovery and it's development. I feel truly blessed that it came into my life at this time and I am excited to help introduce it to the world. Jamie Tipene Matthews (B.Chiro) ConTact C.A.R.E practitioner
